FOTBOT awarded Charity Status (press release)

Image description

Friends of the British Overseas Territories (FOTBOT) are pleased to announce that we have recently been awarded Charity Status by the Charity Commission for England and Wales.

Over the past few months your team has been working hard in securing Charity Status, to help funding and growth to advance our Education Projects and relieve Financial Hardship of students from the British Overseas Territories, who are studying in the UK. A complete list of our charitable objectives can be found on our FAQ page.

Philip Smith, Director of Friends of the British Overseas Territories said, ‘This is a mile-stone for FOTBOT in achieving Charity Status, over the past year, we have gone from strength to strength along with substancial growth and the awarding of Charity Status certainly coincides with that growth’.

Robert Midgley, PR Manager commented, ‘These are exciting times for FOTBOT and provides further leverage for our Educational Funding and support which will open up Education Trips for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to visit and learn from the Overseas Territories.’

To coincide with the awarding of Charity Status, Friends of the British Overseas Territories will be launching a new online shop towards the end of May 2014. Please go to for latest news and developments.
